Self catering eco friendly bothy in the stunning Cairngorms

Scots Pine Bothy self catering eco friendly bothy is set in the idyllic rural Royal Deeside landscape in the stunning Cairngorms National Park, full of country walks, historic sites and charming villages. Perfect for a family holiday, short break or romantic eco-friendly getaway.

Far from the basic facilities provided by traditional bothies, each self contained unit caters for all of your needs during your Highland retreat. Whether it’s the comfort of your own hot shower when returning from your exciting day enjoying the outdoors, the convenience of your cooking facilities your warm home cooked meal or the cosiness of your wood burning stove in the evenings, a Cairngorm Bothy will provide for your every need.

Your Bothy will ideally comfortably sleep a couple in its one bedroom layout. This is fitted with a pine framed double bed (UK standard size) However in the main area we have a bed settee that can easily accommodate further guests.

A wood burning range is integrated into the Bothies, because electrical power is at a premium we use local logs to provide all the comforts of modern life. The wood burner doubles as a heating system heating a hot water circuit that heats the towel rail radiator, as well as obviously heating the surrounding space. Alongside the fire closet is the oven and the top surface is hot plate. The back boiler provides the hot water for the showers and taps. The kettle whistles like olden time when brought to the boil by being deployed on the hot plate.

The bathroom includes a walk in shower, WC, sink and heated towel rail.

Step outside and cook your dinner in our purpose-built disposal bbq stand… or enjoy a cosy night in by the wood burning stove with firewood provided from our own forests.

We are proud of our heritage, of our rich history and of those who have gone before us and shaped the land and our local communities. In naming our bothies we have chosen to name each one after something or someone pertinent to this unique area. Each Bothy is simply and tastefully furnished, but each is individual, reflecting the name bestowed upon it.

A croft on the estate was the birthplace to a locally renowned beekeeper and one of a kind gentleman. Incidentally, he is also a water diviner who helped us find the water supply that now supplies the Bothies! For years beekeepers have moved their hives to moorland on Morven allowing the bees to take advantage of the heather-clad hillside. The resulting heather honey is a full-flavoured much sought after local honey. Delicious on your porridge or toast.
