Launching our new Cairngorm Excursions Biking Route

At Cairngorm Bothies, we’re committed to providing unforgettable outdoor experiences while minimising our environmental impact. Our latest project involves creating a new mountain bike route that connects our Bothies to the award winning Tarland Trails mountain bike facilities. This new route will allow our guests to enjoy a route that takes them for the majority of the way Off road across the Knockargerty Hill with panoramic views of Royal Deeside and Donside.

Our goal is to establish a safe, sustainable, and enjoyable mountain bike route that benefits both our guests and the local community. By minimising the use of public roads, our aim is to assist in reducing traffic congestion, noise pollution, and the risk of accidents.

We are delighted to have worked together with The MacRoberts Trust & Estate, who have granted us permission to cross their land for this project. Their support has been crucial in ensuring the success of this initiative. Without their cooperation, we would not have been able to create a route that minimises the impact on the environment and provides a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

This project was supported with Visit Aberdeenshire and funded by the UK Government, and further enhances our guests’ experience. This year we  also added several new mountain bike facilities. These enhancements were made thanks to NEAT funding and guidance their project manager Will Clarke, we have built a washing bike station where riders can clean their bikes after their adventures.

Additionally, two of our bothies named Hazel and Oak have now secure private bike sheds with pin locks. This allows guests to store their bikes safely and conveniently using their own personal pin numbers.
